Hello World
A first entry. The blogging superstar Tim Challies has a 12?, 13?, 20? year streak of posting daily. Now, some would discount that, given that some of those are his À la Carte links, which, though well-chosen and stimulating, he didn’t write, and he admits to pre-writing and scheduling posts. Nonetheless, he will certainly be the Cal Ripken Jr of Christian bloggers (I really wanted to say Lou Gehrig but I concede to the truly longest of streaks).
No such ambition here. For one thing, I’m not a writer and have no illusions of being one. For another, I bend over backward to avoid comparisons and competition (how absurd that I’m even talking about Tim in this context). For yet another, I try to avoid feeding my obsessions. I do plenty of that sort of thing: Duolingo, Wordle, exercise, devotional time; I keep all those streaky things pretty well, for the benefit or detriment of my soul. Finally, yet-yet another, this is to be only a sidelight, not my main thing and so I hope to be regular—faithful, I love that word!—but not consumed.
So this will be regular yet spontaneous, committed yet fun, a place for very casual writing, for somewhat brainless reflexion, and a practicing ground for whatever God may have in my future regarding teaching or communicating His Word, His Truth and His Glory. It probably will need lots of editing, but get little, will tend more toward stream of consciousness, will touch on the current aspects of our ministry, but be more reflective than newsy.
Next time: to talk a bit about our history and future.
