Changing the same as always
Welcome back
We love direct flights (who doesn't?)! We flew from Seattle to Mexico City, a 4.5 hour flight, breezed through
immigration (a Seahawks conversation ensued with an appreciative agent!), and customs, then did the 2.5
hour bus ride to Puebla. The ride is beautiful-ish, first through very typical Mexico City streets to get out of
the city, then climbing up, up, up from 7,000 up to 12,000 ft as we take the pass north of the 17,000 ft moun-
tains between Mexico City and Puebla. If you sit on the right side of the bus you get to appreciate just how
vast Iztacíhuatl is, tall, rolling and long, a stretched-out sleeping princess, as the legend tells. The upper por-
tions of the pass are big pine forests. We zip through a couple small towns at the top and then down, down
the long slope towards Puebla. Though it's mostly open countryside, every trip seems to have more built up
along the way. Then, into Puebla, where, also, after being away for a year, there are always changes, this
time a new freeway exit. Then, a taxi home for about $16--which seems a bargain for two adults, 6 bags and
2 backpacks. And at the end, home. Everything the same, and everything different.
We are so thankful for God's goodness in the US. We needed a year away: to lower our stress levels, to ena-
ble a shift in ministry responsibilities, to raise funds for Stage 2 of the Outreach Center, to share our vision, to
be with family and friends and churches, and to breathe the northern air: seasons, greenery, quiet, nice
roads, donuts.
We are also so thankful for God's goodness here: Our friends who house-sat and took great care of things.
Faithful church leaders and God's continued sustaining of HIS church, through tough challenges AND real joy.
Ministry in the Outreach Center.
Thank you for your prayers and for standing with us! Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His love endures
forever!
