"What were we thinking?  This will be a disaster.  No one's going to be here"  Such were our thoughts at about 5:45 AM on Easter Sunday.  The church leadership team had decided to do a true sunrise serviceSinging at Easter sunrise service, meaning 6 AM,  at the Magallons' house a few miles outside Puebla.  In February that seemed like a good idea, but now, well, not so much.  But we had things set up, coffee brewing, and there was nothing to be done but wait.  And people started coming.  There was a phone call saying, "Don't start without us!"  When we started (closer to 6:30 than 6:00) we had most all of the regulars and some not-so-regulars as well!  What an encouragement!  It was great to meet and sing and hear the resurrection story as the sun came up, illuminating the two 17,000 foot volcanoes visible through the windows.  Afterwards we had a great time of fellowship as everybody stayed for several hours for breakfast.  The best part of that was the opportunity Tim had to have an extended conversation with Andrés about why God sent his Son, and why He had been killed.  "I used to think that I could just believe in God and thank Him for things," he said, "but now I'm starting to see that Jesus is the way to God."  What a thrill on Resurrection Sunday!  Please pray for Andrés.  It has been tremendously exciting to see the Lord working in his daughter and wife, and now him.

Drew & Roy in kayakMarch went by so quickly.  We've been operating under the radar (read: not communicating very well) because we took some time off to be with Tim's sister.  The Hudsons' visit was also an encouragement to us.  We enjoyed a good Sunday out at camp when they were here with close to 50 people, and many visitors.  One, an 11 year-old, had the misfortune of overturning his kayak in the lake!  That's what life-jackets are for, so he was fine.  He will now join his father and older brother with a healthy fear of water!  We continue to see the Lord opening opportunities to witness and build relationships with neighbors.  Schools are still out for Holy Week vacations (they get TWO weeks off, kids!), and we've been able to do some things with local kids.

In April, we are looking forward to starting a group for young couples.  As we've done pre-marital counseling with a couple, we've become aware of an opportunity to start something.  So we hope to kick things off on the 16th with bowling and follow that up with a meeting at our place on the 23rd.  As schools start up again after Holy Week, Tim will again be going to Madero University, hoping to start some Bible studies.  He'll also be starting the book of Mark in the Monday night study.
