The Glessners - Puebla, Mexico

The Sights and Sounds of Pueblo Nuevo

As we write to you tonight we are "enjoying" the sounds of Pueblo Nuevo, our more traditional Mexican neighborhood.  Saturday nights are party night and large speakers are brought in so they can share their music with everyone.  Soon we should be able to sing along with the Mariachi music from the comforts of our own home until the typical party quits at about 2 am.  They are often celebrating a girl's 15th birthday called quinciñera or maybe a wedding.

Contrary to what many of you might think about the heat here, we are enjoying  quite a cool night.  The clouds have rolled in and we should get a good rain that might just quiet down the neighborhood for the night.  The rainy season has begun and brought with it some cooler weather.

Ministry Notes

Tim has just finished up on his sermon for tomorrow on the second coming of Christ.  It was very encouraging to him as his Grandma Hower just passed away this past month and is now in the presence of our coming Savior.  We have a very full Sunday to look forward to.  Our co-workers have headed back to some meetings in the states and so we have a bit more work to do in preparation.  After the service, we will pack up the church things bring them back to Pueblo Nuevo and repack the car with about 6 teenage boys, our family and all the essentials to head out for a week of camp in the state of Hidalgo.  It's camp for them and intensive language training for us!  No doubt our heads will be spinning with all the new Spanish we'll pick up from the youth camp setting.

We are very excited to have each one of these guys going with us.  Some of them attend weekly youth group meetings and have professed Christ but they need a lot of encouragement towards growth and we pray for the salvation of the rest.

Barbara-Lee has started some cooking classes for neighborhood ladies that has brought a lot of interest.  They have made some delicious desserts from both the states and Mexico and as a result seen some new youth attending our weekly meetings after their moms came to the classes.

Glessner Giggles

Drew is definately ready to go to camp.  He's asked about it just about every day this week.  He just loves to be around the teenagers whenever he gets the opportunity.  This past week he picked up miniature golf on a youth outing and his newest phrase in Spanish is vas con nosotros? which means are you going with us?  He'll certainly learn his share of new Spanish words at camp too.  So next prayer letter we'll start up the vocabulary quiz again.  How did you do with memorizing Psalm 121:8?

PRAYER

1. Please pray for camp this week that we would see each guy make a conscious decision to follow Christ and begin growing.  Also, for safety as we make the 5 hour trip each way.

2. Please pray for a family in our church that had just begun attending faithfully and growing.  Some scary situations have come up in their family that are threatening them to relocate.  Pray for wisdom as they make related decisions and that they would trust the Lord fully.

3. Please pray that the ladies' cooking classes would turn into a great opportunity to share Christ through a fall Bible study.

PRAISE

1. The young man that was interested in going to the Monday night study has been pretty faithful to attend. Thank you for your prayers!

2. Several new teens from the neighborhood that are coming to youth group.

3. Tim's parents were able to come down for a restful visit.

4.We are heading out to camp with a great group of guys, more than last year's trip.

Thank you for your prayers!

In Christ,

Tim, Barbara-Lee, & Drew
