We've flown a bit under the radar for these past two months. We were hanging on by the fingernails in July and then in a mostly-no-e-mail zone as we relaxed (kind of) in the States in August. We had a good month in Tacoma, mixing business (visiting three churches and several supporters) and pleasure (family, ballgames, Mount Rainier). But we're back in Puebla, ready to go again.

Our report to churches won't be too new to you if you've been reading our letters (well, you're getting this aren't you?!), but it would be good to sum things up and pinpoint the prayer items we communicated. We are excited about what the Lord has done here this year. We've seen people accept the Lord and grow in commitment and responsibility. We've seen numerical growth (not the most important thing, but it's a nice result of the first point). We've enjoyed growing unity and fellowship among people within the church. The one sad point this year was saying goodbye to the Hudsons.

Coming back after being gone, we were encouraged that one young lady who visited our last Sunday has continued to attend, and even brought a cousin. Another young lady has faithfully helped with the music. Christian has taken initiative in planning for the fall. We're wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea for all missionaries/church planters to take a month away from the work every year, to let the church take charge and to remind themselves that, ultimately, it is GOD who builds HIS church, not us or our hard work. We are thankful and excited about what God has done here in our absence.

As we look ahead, we are hoping to hold 4 Bible studies in new homes this fall. We are praying that God will allow us to realize several discipleships in the fall. We see the need to develop leadership from within the church. We may need to find a different meeting place. So, as you can see, there is lots to keep us occupied this fall--and lots for you to pray! We ask for prayer in some specific areas:
1. For the Bible studies, that God will use them to grow church members in evangelism and leadership.
2. For Christian Cruz, that God will direct him and lead him in his life right now.
3. For leadership in the church. In particular we are asking for you to pray for one of the following church members (pictured clockwise from upper left in the photo):Church leaders

3a. Liz Carrillo: She helps with music. Pray that she would be motivated to disciple another young lady.
3b. Emmanuel & Mariel Bretón: Pray for Emmanuel's commitment to the Lord and for Mariel, as she's expecting a baby boy in November.
3c. Silvia Chávez: Pray for her to be a leader among the women, and for her unsaved husband and very difficult marriage situation.
3d. Hiram Carpinteyro: Helps with youth and music. Pray for him to grow in leadership.
3e. Leandro Lozada: He is a college student who has really grown in the Lord. Pray for his continued growth and leadership as well as God's direction in his life.
3f. Dr. Pedro Carrillo and his wife Emi: Liz's parents and long-time believers. He is our treasurer and a real evangelist.

4. We've mentioned Vicente's sister before, but we've lost contact with her. We just heard she's had a baby with her boyfriend. Pray for her salvation.

PRAISE
1. Our missions team in June put a roof on a family's house. After a week of heavy rain (from Hurricane Dean), they have stayed dry!
3. For the good things that happened while we were away.
4. For our time away as a family.

PRAYER

Grace be with you.
